The integrated Linguistics Honours postgraduate programme offers advanced training and expertise in applied and general linguistics and is of particular relevance to language practitioners who want to further their professional development with insights into language structure, acquisition and use. Modules in the Linguistics Honours postgraduate programme offer an understanding of the formal and mental representation of linguistic knowledge and cover topics in the areas of language planning and contact, language description and analysis, and language and cognition.

Every year, three of the following five Honours coursework modules will be on offer, depending on staff availability and students’ interests:

Ling 708 Language, Contact and Diversity (32C)

Ling 710 Syntactic Analysis (32C)

Ling 711 Topics in Psycholinguistics (32C)

Ling 714 Language Processing (32C)

Ling 715 Corpus Linguistics (32C)

In addition, students will register for a research module in which they will write their Honours dissertation under the supervision of a staff member in Linguistics:
