The Mazisi Kunene Research Chair is the first Research Chair in the School of Arts and honours the legacy of the renowned poet, scholar and intellectual Professor Mazisi Kunene. The Chair advances African-centred scholarship, with a focus on African languages, literature, indigenous knowledge systems and interdisciplinary research, while fostering research partnerships, postgraduate development and the preservation of Kunene’s intellectual and creative legacy.
