Fine Art (BAH)

(Offered on Pietermaritzburg Campus)

The Honours degree in Fine Arts offers students an introduction to research in Fine Arts, including both theory and practice. Students must have a major in Fine Arts in the Bachelor’s degree to enter the programme. Students must take all Honours core modules, comprising two practical modules and a research paper. Theory and practice are treated as integrated in these modules. The programme is delivered via a combination of group teaching and individual supervision. Practical work is examined in the form of an exhibition at the end of each semester. Students are invited to join MA and PhD students in weekly research seminars, including group critiques of student work. In addition to formal evaluation of work, critiques will function as an important learning and assessment process.
