A PhD in French and Francophone Studies provides doctoral candidates with the opportunity to conduct original, substantial, and independent research. Research may be pursued in areas of French and Francophone literature or in the didactics of French as a foreign language. We ensure that supervisory capacity aligns with the candidate’s interests and our staff specialisations before registration. The objective is to produce a thesis that demonstrates scholarly excellence, advanced competence in French (minimum C1 or equivalent), and a significant and original contribution to the discipline.
